Parents and caregivers often face uncertainties, worries, and challenges when supporting their children through healthcare, illness, and difficult life events. Feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how best to help is a common experience. You're not alone in this, and you don't have to face it alone. With Ursula’s extensive training and experience, she provides personalized care plans and set goals while understanding that each child and family is unique. Her services encompass therapeutic, educational, and supportive interventions.
New patients are required to fill out an intake form. Sessions with your child are 45 minutes and can be conducted in-person at Ursula’s private New Canaan office, or virtual from the comfort of your home. Please note, our services include additional time for Ursula to coordinate care plans, maintain records, and develop resources tailored to your needs.
Common concerns addressed include:
Anxiety or fear surrounding doctors or dentists visits, pokes, or procedures
Upcoming tests, procedures, surgery, or hospitalizations
Chronic or life-threatening illnesses affecting the child or caregiver
Food allergy related fear and/or anxiety
Unexpected or anticipated loss of a loved one or pet
Transitions and significant life changes such as divorce, relocation, adoption, or the arrival of a new baby
Ursula’s services are beneficial for:
Developing healthy coping skills
Creative outlets for expression and mastery
Educating children about their diagnosis or illness
Preparing for medical procedures, surgeries, imaging, lab work or dental visits
Providing support after procedures or surgeries to ensure compliance with care plans
Using medical play to familiarize and comfort children in medical settings
Offering support to parents and siblings

Parent Phone Consult
This session offers one-on-one time with a parent/caregiver to discuss concerns. Ursula will provide guidance, education, and helpful resources.

In-person Session
This individualized session for a child/teen takes place in Ursula’s private office in New Canaan, CT. Each session is customized to provide therapeutic support.
45 mins | $150
Video Session
This one-on-one session with Ursula begins with a parent or caregiver present to introduce the session. It then moves into an individualized session with the child/teen, concluding with a debriefing with both you and your child/teen.

Currently, Child Life Specialist services are not covered by insurance or a health savings plan.
